Livingston Diabetes Education
Courses on Diabetes Management
Our diabetes education program offers comprehensive education to diabetes patients and their families. Trained diabetes educators provide education on nutrition, self-medication, glucose control, exercise, and complications. Diabetes education also provides community screenings to promote healthy patient self-management and prevent diabetes complications.
Preventing Diabetes
You can help prevent Type 2 diabetes with lifestyle changes! Here are a few steps you can take to reduce your risk and help prevent Type 2 diabetes:
- Make healthy food choices. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains; include fish in your diet two to three times a week; eat lean meats; use fat-free dairy products; cut back on snack foods and fast food; and control your portion sizes.
- Exercise regularly. Even walking every day can affect your health.
- Maintain a healthy weight.
Livingston HealthCare’s Diabetes Education Program can help you accomplish all of these goals. Additionally, in our Healthy Steps program, you can set up an exercise routine that will be supervised by a registered nurse. Our Food and Nutrition Services can also provide assistance in creating a healthy diet.
