Livingston HealthCare (LHC) has received an Intalere Healthcare Achievement Award in the category of “Community Impact and/or Innovation” for its cafeteria’s farm-to-institution program. The award recognizes Intalere members who have implemented transformational initiatives to enhance their operations through process improvements. Intalere is a supply chain and group purchasing company that services over 95,000 healthcare organizations nationally.
Livingston HealthCare’s Food and Nutrition Services Department implemented its farm-to-institution program in 2007 with the objective of providing healthy food and modeling healthy choices for the Park County community, while at the same time supporting local farmers and food producers.
The design of Livingston HealthCare’s cafeteria—Café Fresh—is unique to the hospital setting. “The idea is that people eat with their eyes, therefore the majority of the food choices are on display. We designed Café Fresh to lead by example, offering tasty choices without compromising nutrition or quality,” says Jessica Wilcox, LHC’s Food and Nutrition Services Manager.
As a recipient of Intalere’s Healthcare Achievement Award, Livingston HealthCare will be honored at a special awards dinner May 16 in Orlando, Florida.
